BFA

Now I just have to get through this week and im free at last!!

Statement

The settling residue left from the act of pouring and my personal experiences of landscapes are the subject matter of my current work. It is this process that defines the work for me. These paintings are analogous to the formation of landscapes and emerge as the pigment settles on the canvas as sediments settle in a lake. As one can witness with a body of water, the sediments or pigments, leave behind rings of heavily concentrated areas that show the result of evaporation. Through the drying process, the pigments suggest a kind of sedimentary dispersion that is left behind in this natural process. In combination with this natural process, the colors are specifically chosen from the setting sun over a lake. By layering my chosen colors on the canvas, the result is comparable to the way colors blend and mix in the sky. I am taking the intangible beauty of a sunset and making it tangible by suggesting landscapes through puddles.
